Marlene Aikins Marlene has spent her life surrounded by the beauty of Western Canada.A native of the Peace River country of Alberta, her interest in art began while growing up in Grand Prairie. After a move to Northwest B.C., she began to develop her work by taking area workshops and art courses, including oils, sketching and perspective. After moving to Cranbrook and the mountainous terrain of the Kootenay Valley, she began to paint the expansive range of scenery in that area. Marlene earned awards in the provincial Artsaround Juried Shows, and continued on to Images and Objects in their published edition of Contemporary B.C. Artists. In 1998 she was awarded the People’s Choice Award at the Regional Artsaround in Invermere. She was also accepted into an FCA juried exhibition at the Leighton Center in Calgary. Two of her latest works were selected for Limited Edition prints by Prestige Inns for their new Radium Hot Springs Hotel. These prints are also available at select frame shops in the East Kootenays and the Okanagan.
