Cheryl has been living in Kelowna since 1999, and fusing glass since 1991. Working from her studio, Cheryl receives great satisfaction creating the striking fused glass artwork which has become her true passion. Originally an acrylic painting artist Cheryl became intrigued by fused glass and the infinite possibilities of translucency, color and texture that glass has.
Glass fusing is Cheryl's preferred creative outlet. Cheryl finds it exhilarating to experiment with design, color and texture. Much of the glass she uses has “dichroic” or “iridescent” coatings. Beautiful, light-transmitting colors unfold within this glass when viewed at different angles and with different lighting conditions. Included among the creations Cheryl has made are free standing sculpture, bowls, plates and vases. Cheryl has enjoyed the opportunity to create larger architectural fused glass panels including large wall murals, room dividers, kitchen back-splashes and cabinet doors and windows.
Many of the pieces Cheryl creates are not limited to just glass. They often have copper, silver, palladium gold or mica inclusions.
Using hi-tech state of the art glass equipment, modern techniques, and her large glass inventory, Cheryl plans to take her glass projects to new limits and beyond.
