Christian Lipani
Christian Lipani is a contemporary artist who was raised in France until his teenage years. At that point, in the 1960's,his parents emigrated to Canada and he lived in Montreal for the rest of his youth. While growing up, his youth showed that he had a strong interest in art. In 1984 he attended "La Potterie Bonsecour" a school that specialized in ceramics. During that year, he was fortunate to have teachers from L' Ecole des Beaux Arts de Montreal as his instructors. It was here that he developed his love for the three dimensional aspect of art that encouraged his exploration of sculpture.
For Christian, sculpture is not what he does, but more, what he is.He lives and breathes his sculpture and it is through sculpture that he is able to express his inner thoughts and emotions. From early in the morning to late at night, he is constantly thinking of sculpture or thinking of how he can turn different media into sculpture. He has explored, wax, stone and bronze as the final step.
Most of Christian's sculptures involve human and animal behaviour and trying to show how these attributes are translated into expression and articulation of body parts to show movement and emotion.
Now living in Kelowna, Christian continues to advance his development and explore the endless possibilities that he finds in life.
