Elizabeth Dykosky was born in Poland but immigrated to Montreal in 1990. She has had a passion for painting on canvas as long as she can remember. Her talents in this field led her to graduate from the prestigious College of Fine Arts in Lublin, Poland.
It was here she received her first commendations for her designs and eventual commissions for religious murals for the Church of St. Cosma and St. Damian in Lublin.
In 1989, she moved to Rome, where she continued to paint and exhibit her works, including live portraits and copies of old masters. In 1990, she travelled to Canada and eventually settled in Montreal. She soon became a resident and began showing her works, first with other artists in group shows and then in galleries by herself. She then moved to Toronto where she showed for the next three years. She had her first solo show in 1994 at the Pekao Gallery in Toronto. During the same year she contributed to the interior designs of the John Paul II Polish Cultural Centre where she also created a large portrait of Pope John Paul II.
Since moving to British Columbia, she has had several group and solo shows. She now resides in Kelowna and shows at the Hambleton Galleries.
Her work is unique and shows a remarkable talent at wielding the brush or the palette knife. The work is colourful and often her pieces capture the essence of the subject to a degree that leaves a lasting impact on the viewer.
