Jose Trinidad was educated formally at the University of the Phillippines.However, travel being his professed education in art, Trinidad has also found his muse in the gardens and homes of North America.The results of this wide-ranging interest are oil paintings of entrancing beauty.Joyful colours, vibrant flowers and the uncanny play of sunlight and shadow - his palette creates a dreamlike world of tranquility and tenderness.A sensitive poet at heart, Trinidad handles his brush and palette with vigor and authority, yet with utmost tenderness in presenting children at play and at rest in floral and water ambiences.His garden scenes are vibrant with colour and light, yet controlled and balanced.Perhaps it is not surprising that the artists Trinidad most admires are Monet and Renoir. "It is wonderful," he says, "the way their paintings can take you into another dimension". He approaches his art with the seriousness of a disciplined craftsman, with painstaking care and detail.Each piece of art is created with much inspiration and feeling.

History:
Jose Trinidad first enjoyed success as a painter in the Philippines.He received particular recognition for a mural commissioned to honour the visit by U.S. President Lyndon B. Johnson.He studied Fine Arts at the University of the Philippines, but was forced to quit school due to the loss of his father.However, he continued to paint and worked as a civilian artist at the Philippine Naval Base and the Army at Camp Crame in the fifties, before the Marcos regime.From there, he worked on his own as a mural artist with the top interior designer Ronnie Laing and for Rattan Arts.The Trinidad family immigrated to San Francisco in 1967 and eventually made Vancouver their home in 1969.Along the way, Trinidad studied and painted extensively in France, Spain, Italy and Switzerland.He still visits Europe to immerse himself in the settings of the Impressionists, such as Monet's famous garden at Giverny, France.In Spain and England, he seeks out the traditional houses and gardens.By talking his way into these private homes he has discovered "some magnificent things".
