Louise Larouche
Louise Larouche was born in Jonquière, Quebec in 1957.As a child she was enthralled by the Laurentides Provincial Park's mountains, evergreens and lakes, between Chicoutimi and Quebec City. Laurentides is a relatively large park that she has visited many times during her childhood with her parents and as as adult with her own children. She is fascinated by the different tones and colors, forms and lights of the changing seasons. Her work is an attempt to recreate these wonderful sights and experiences.
She started painting at age thirteen and took art lessons for eight years with Thérèse Morency, at that time, a well
known teacher and artist of l’École des Beaux-arts de Montréal.Much later, she joined the Denise
Belisle Studio for 4 years to improve and develop her art.
In 2001, she started giving painting lessons at l'Atelier des Arts Visuels of Boucherville on the south
shore of Montreal.Between the ages of twentyone and forty years old, she painted for her pleasure only, exploring different approaches and media. Simultaneously, she was in developing a career in human resources, obtaining a BA in Industrial Relations as well as starting a family, she has two daughters.
In 1997, her schedule relaxed enough to allow her to work full time at her art.She now resides with her family in the Outaouais region.
Her style is the result of a combination of many influences, reflecting her personal vision and having the experience of her surroundings. Most importantly, her art conveys the deep feelings that nature awakens in her soul. The atmosphere created by her brush is at times surreal.
The stillness comes to life with her strokes and impetuous movement. Forms, shapes, light and shadows embrace to finally produce intricate spaces. Through the use of vibrant colours her decisive strokes merge to create a unique window on nature. With time, the contrasts become bolder, the colours richer – luminosity emerges!
Larouche lets her inspiration flow freely, offering paintings that exude warmth. She draws her energy and colour from the rugged beauty of nature. Her work reflects her interest in the multifaceted nature of our great country. From the undergrowth, to the lakes, the rivers and the deep forests of Quebec, Ontario and Western Canada.
"I’m moved by the stillness and vastness of nature, treasured silent places, still untouched by the hand of man."
