A self-taught painter, Lonechild learned his craft through practice, reading and studying the work of other artists.
“The famous artist Allen Sapp was my inspiration. He was the first Indian artist to make it with his talent”.
It was a hobby for the young Lonechild until he met Father Joe Suroviak, a Catholic priest from Carlyle, SK.
“ He made this hobby become an occupation. We used to kid a lot but he told me one day my paintings would sell for a thousand dollars. I said “Go on!. A hundred I could believe, but one thousand".
"I remember when I first sold a painting for a thousand dollars. It was quitea thing”.
Michael has three children, Rene, Joe and Samantha. He continues to paint and promote his work through shows and galleries in Canada and the US.
