Raymond Chow

Raymond Chow, born in Vancouver, BC in 1941, is a man of many interests and talents.  He is a collector of old pianos and vintage cars, plays the piano at a professional level, and is a prolific song writer.  He has published two books of his drawings of Vancouver and Expo'86 and has had one of his paintings included in the book "150 Years of Toronto".

Raymond is a graduate of the University of British Columbia in Education and actually taught in the school system for 10 months, but his heart was elsewhere.  When his paintings began to sell, he boldly changed careers.

His whimsical wash drawings of the fast-disappearing old houses and buildings of Vancouver won him early recognition.  With the advent of his children, Lisa and Ryan, a new element entered his drawings and paintings.  They joined the cityscapes, horses, gulls, and fortune cookies-the iconography which make a Raymond Chow work instantly recognizable, be it drawing, watercolour, or acrylic on canvas.  Currently, it is Raymond's colourful, perceptive paintings of women and children which delight collectors.

Raymond's work has been exhibited across Canada and in Seattle, San Francisco, and London.  Corporate collectors include MacMillan Bloedel, Scott Paper, Price Waterhouse, and Ronald MacDonald House.  His paintings are found in the personal collections of Samantha Eggar, Paul Anka, Gordon Lightfoot, Raymond Burr, and Roger Moore, to name a few.
