Tim Jensen
Tim has been living in Kelowna since 1999, and glass fusing since 1988. Working out of their home studio, Tim and his wife Cheryl (who is also a fused glass artist) receive great satisfaction creating the striking fused glass artwork which has become a true passion for both of them.
Tim and Cheryl find it exhilarating to experiment with designs, colors, and textures.Much of the glass they use has “dichroic” or “iridescent” coatings.Beautiful, light-transmitting colors unfold within this glass when viewed at different angles, and with different lighting conditions. Some of the creations Tim and Cheryl make include free standing sculpture, bowls, plates, vases, and jewelry.Tim and Cheryl have enjoyed the opportunity to create larger, architectural fused glass panels as well, including large wall murals, room dividers, windows, a coffered ceiling and feature cabinet doors.
Many of the pieces Tim and Cheryl create are not limited to just glass. They often have copper, silver, palladium and/or gold inclusions. Also, many pieces include sand-blasted or kiln-carved imagery as well.
Tim and Cheryl’s home and glass studio were destroyed in the Okanagan Mountain Park fire in August 2003.After 2 ˝ years, they were back into their new home and studio with lots of creative new ideas just waiting to be explored.
Using up-to-date equipment, modern techniques, and having a large glass inventory, Tim and Cheryl plan to take glass to its limits and beyond.
Inspired by each other and their two daughters, the Jensen’s have only begun to scratch the surface of the ideas they have for the glass medium.
