ERICA HAWKES
Kelowna, BC
Born and raised in British Columbia, Erica studied at the Colorado institute of Art in Denver before returning home to Vancouver to finish her degree in design. She has worked with countless mediums throughout the years, including graphite, oil, watercolour, India Ink, and now primarily in acrylic. She has worked as an illustrator, portrait artist, teacher, and photographer, but bringing joy through landscape painting is her truest love.
She has a penchant for capturing moments of beauty in the Canadian landscape, and loves everything about the creation process—from taking photographs and sketching new ideas, to laying paint onto canvas. She particularly enjoys the space where two styles meet.
“I paint landscapes in a style I've called Nouveau 7, of which I borrow elements from the fabulous group of seven in Canada, and the beautiful flowing lines of Art Nouveau movement at the turn of the century.”
