Biography
JOHN REVILL
Little Fort, BC
John Revill was born in Ontario and has lived in the Okanagan since the age of five, where he still currently paints and creates. In his late teens, John decided to pursue a career as an artist, developing his talents through mentoring with other artists and through his own personal studies. Painters such as Alex Colville, Salvador Dali, the Group of Seven and Canada’s West Coast Indigenous People have inspired Revill’s technique and compositional style.
John’s work embraces the Okanagan landscape through a unique interpretation of trees, rocks, hills, and sky through an unspoiled, robust view of nature. His bright use of colour, and linear sight lines guide the viewer through his meticulously planned landscapes. Revill has fostered a spiritual quality in his painting which imbues his work with the otherworldly dream atmosphere. His unique interpretation of landscape elements carry the viewer’s eyes to a hyper-reality. The forms and structures in his landscape paintings reflect John’s personality and character - at times in conflict and other times, at peace with life.
