Rick Bond was born in Victoria and grew up in the Gulf Islands of B.C. He started his painting career in 1980 and took his training through the Emily Carr Outreach program, Okanagan University College, Pearson College Summer School, and professional artists' workshops. In 1999 he achieved AFCA Signature Status with the Federation of Canadian Artists and solidified himself as a signature Western Canadian painter. Rick began his career working in oil, then moved to watercolour, and eventually settled into acrylic on canvas. His genres of urban and rural landscape are created with loose vibrant style which Rick describes as contemporary impressionism.
Rick has a strong affiliation with the community and is a regular contributor to fund raising activities. He was the Manager of Pharmacy Operations at the Vernon Jubilee Hospital, has been the president of the Okanagan Artists League and the Vernon Community Arts Council, and was the Chairperson for the Images and Objects show with the B.C. Festival of the Arts.
